Miscellaneous Metals Shop Foreman

About This Role

Lead the day-to-day operations of a structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication shop in Denver. You’ll supervise welders, fitters, fabricators and machine operators, plan and sequence production, enforce safety and quality, and coordinate material and equipment so jobs finish on time. We’re looking for a hands-on shop foreman with strong welding knowledge, proven supervisory experience, and the ability to read and verify fabrication drawings. This role is shop-based and requires clear communication with project managers, detailers, and field teams to keep projects moving and minimize rework.

What You'll Do

• • Supervise and mentor welders, fitters, laborers, fabricators, and machine operators; assign daily work and lead production meetings.
• • Plan, schedule, and sequence fabrication tasks to meet project deadlines and productivity goals; monitor progress and adjust priorities as needed.
• • Read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication drawings; verify dimensions, fit-up, and finished assemblies against shop drawings.
• • Enforce OSHA and company safety rules; conduct daily safety observations, ensure proper PPE use, and maintain a clean, organized shop.
• • Coordinate incoming materials, confirm orders match drawings/POs, maintain inventory of consumables, and track equipment maintenance.
• • Inspect weld quality and workmanship, identify fabrication issues early, and work with detailers/PMs to resolve shop questions and reduce rework.

What We're Looking For

• • 3+ years as a shop foreman, lead fabricator, or supervisor in a structural steel/miscellaneous metals shop.
• • Ability to read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication drawings and perform shop layout.
• • Strong welding knowledge (MIG/FCAW/SMAW required; GTAW a plus) and understanding of fit-up, welding procedures, and QC.
• • Proven experience supervising and mentoring shop personnel and managing daily production schedules.
• • Proficient with fabrication tools and shop equipment (ironworkers, band saws, press brakes, drill lines) and common measuring devices.
• • Able to work in an industrial fabrication environment, lift up to 50 lbs., and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10 (or higher) preferred
• • AWS D1.1 or relevant welding certification preferred
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel; experience with production tracking software a plus
• • English required; Spanish bilingual a plus
