Per Diem
RMD Welder — Field (6G, Per Diem)
About This Role
Join a hands-on field crew as an RMD Welder working on tanks, structural steel, piping and stainless/aluminum fabrications. This per diem role is field-based around Louisville, KY and requires proven RMD and multi-process welding skills to meet quality and safety standards. You’ll work outdoors in varying weather and elements, read prints, set up welds, and ensure weld integrity across materials (hot-rolled steel, stainless, aluminum). This is a practical role for experienced welders who can run SMAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, GTAW and perform tank and stud welding with attention to fit-up and inspection standards.
What You'll Do
- • Perform RMD welding and related processes (SMAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, GTAW) on tanks, structural steel, pipe and stainless components
- • Set up joints, tack and fit-up, verify alignment and perform air carbon arc cutting when required
- • Operate equipment for stud welding, oxygen/acetylene tasks and aluminum welding as needed
- • Execute welds to specified procedures and quality standards; perform visual and basic NDE prep
- • Work outdoors on job sites — lift, climb, rig, and maintain safe work practices in weather and elements
- • Lead small crew tasks or mentor less-experienced welders when acting as welder foreman on site
What We're Looking For
- • Hands-on field experience with RMD, GMAW-S, FCAW and SMAW processes
- • Proven experience welding tanks, structural steel, stainless steel, hot-rolled steel and aluminum
- • Skilled in 6G position welding and general pipefitting practices
- • Ability to perform air carbon arc cutting, stud welding and oxygen/acetylene operations
- • Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather and elements; able to travel to sites
- • Willingness to follow safety protocols and jobsite instructions; strong attention to weld quality
Qualifications
- • 6G welding certification (required)
- • Minimum 3+ years of field welding experience, including tank and structural work
- • Proficiency with SMAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, GTAW and RMD processes
- • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites
- • Able to work in outdoor conditions (weather/elements) and pass physical/drug screen
What We Offer
- • Pay up to $42.00/hr (based on experience) — competitive field rates
- • Per diem paid for qualifying travel assignments
- • Overtime available on many assignments
- • Consistent field work and long-term assignments when available
- • Travel/trip-related expenses covered while on assignment
