Welding Fabricator Foreman

About This Role

Join as a Welding Fabricator Foreman in Houma, LA, leading shipyard welding and marine fabrication projects. This is a hands‑on foreman role: you’ll weld, inspect work, and directly manage crews on structural and marine builds. Pay range: $35–$50/hr depending on experience and certifications. You’ll be expected to run day‑to‑day welding operations, keep projects on schedule, enforce safety and quality standards, and mentor journeymen and apprentices. Ideal candidates have solid shipyard experience, strong blueprint skills, and proven supervisory ability.

What You'll Do

• • Supervise and coordinate welding and fabrication teams on shipyard and marine projects
• • Perform hands‑on welding (SMAW and other processes) and conduct weld inspections for quality
• • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols to set up jobs
• • Enforce safety procedures, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure PPE/use of safe work practices
• • Assign workflow, track progress against deadlines, and report project status
• • Provide training, mentorship, and on‑the‑job feedback to welders and helpers

What We're Looking For

• • Proven shipyard welding and fabrication experience with structural steel and marine components
• • Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills (drawing reading/interpretation)
• • Proficient in SMAW and general structural welding techniques
• • Demonstrated leadership and team management — prior foreman or supervisor experience
• • Clear verbal and written communication across crews, leads, and project managers
• • Commitment to enforce safety procedures and quality standards on every job (shipyard experience preferred)

Qualifications

• • 6G welding certification (required)
• • 3G welding certification (required)
• • 4G welding certification (required)
• • Minimum 5 years welding/fabrication experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory/foreman role (shipyard experience preferred)
• • Ability to read technical drawings and welding symbols; reliable transportation to Houma, LA
