Welder — Traveling Torch Cutter (High Burner)

About this role

Join a traveling demolition crew as a High Burner/Torch Cutter based in Tallahassee, FL. You’ll perform high-production steel and scrap torch cutting on residential, commercial, and industrial sites. This role requires heavy manual labor, reliable attendance, and the ability to work under tight production schedules. This is a travel-heavy position (up to 100% travel) with hotel and per diem provided for out-of-town jobs. You'll operate small equipment, maintain cutting tools, follow site safety procedures, and have opportunities to earn OSHA 10 and other safety certifications while building a stable career with benefits and a 401(k) match.

What you'll do

  • Perform high-production oxy-fuel torch cutting and scrap burning of structural steel on demolition sites.
  • Operate skid steers, man lifts, forklifts and other small equipment as assigned.
  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain cutting torches, regulators, hoses, and hand/power tools.
  • Load, unload, sort and prepare scrap; perform site clean-up and material handling tasks.
  • Follow site supervisor directions and enforce site safety procedures; complete required job documentation.
  • Travel to job sites nationwide, report on time, and work extended hours when projects demand.

What we're looking for

  • 2–3+ years’ ground and high burning / torch cutting experience in demolition or scrap environments.
  • Proven oxy-fuel cutting and scrap burning skills; able to work at a high-production pace.
  • Experience or willingness to operate skid steers, man lifts, and forklifts; basic equipment maintenance skills.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, perform sustained manual labor, and work in variable weather and jobsite conditions.
  • Must be clean-shaven and medically able to wear a half-face respirator; able to pass background check and drug screen.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 100% with overnight stays (hotel and per diem provided).

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 preferred — training may be provided on hire.
  • 2–3+ years high/ground burning or torch cutting experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • English required; Spanish a plus.
  • Clean-shaven and medically cleared to wear a half-face respirator.
