Welder — Traveling High Burner / Torch Cutter

Tallahassee, FL $21-$27/hr

About this role

Traveling High Burner/Torch Cutter role performing high-production steel torch cutting on demolition sites across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This is physical work: you’ll cut steel and scrap, operate small equipment on-site, and work under site supervisor direction. Expect frequent travel — many assignments require being on the road for extended periods with hotel and per diem provided. Safety and production are top priorities. You’ll be immersed in jobsite safety practices and offered opportunities to earn OSHA 10 and other certifications. This role is a fit for dependable, hands-on welders with scrap-burning experience who can pass a background check and drug screen and are comfortable working long hours in demanding environments.

What you'll do

  • Perform high-production oxy-fuel and torch cutting of steel and scrap on demolition sites.
  • Operate small equipment as needed: skid steers, man lifts, forklifts, and other powered tools.
  • Maintain and safely use power and hand tools; inspect and perform basic maintenance on cutting gear.
  • Load, unload, and move cut material; sort scrap and assist with site clean-up and material handling.
  • Follow site supervisor directions, jobsite safety plans, and standard demolition work sequences.
  • Travel to job sites as assigned, stay in provided lodging, and manage on-the-road work responsibilities.

What we're looking for

  • 2–3+ years ground and high-burning / scrap torch cutting experience.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs, perform sustained manual labor, and work in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% of the time; reliable transportation to start assignments.
  • Able to operate or obtain training for skid steer, man lift, and forklift; comfortable with pneumatic tools and oxyfuel systems.
  • Pass pre-employment background check and drug screen; be clean-shaven and medically able to wear a half-face respirator.
  • Follow site safety procedures, work well on a team and independently, and take direction from site supervisors.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (preferred or will be provided during onboarding).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to start assignments.
  • Medical clearance to wear a half-face respirator; must be clean-shaven.
  • Forklift, man lift, or skid-steer certifications a plus (or willingness to obtain).
  • 2–3+ years documented torch cutting / scrap burning experience.
  • Spanish language skills a plus (bilingual candidates encouraged).

What we offer

  • Hotel and per diem provided for out-of-town assignments.
  • Full benefits package including medical and dental.
  • Paid holidays and paid time off available with no waiting period.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • OSHA 10 and other safety certifications and training opportunities.
  • Opportunities for career growth and additional equipment training.
