Streamlining candidate fit: Skillit introduces pre-screening interview questions

This update empowers recruiters to qualify candidates before interviews are scheduled, allowing them to ask custom questions, filter out dealbreakers, and gain important context before ever picking up the phone.
Why pre-screening matters
While a worker’s profile offers critical details like experience, certifications, and location, sometimes you need more clarity to determine if they’re a true fit for a project. Questions like:
“Are you comfortable traveling for this role?”
“Can you pass a background check?”
“Are you certified in confined space safety?”
…can be the difference between a great conversation and a wasted one. By inserting these key questions into the pre-interview process, Skillit gives recruiters a clear, low-lift way to tighten their funnel and improve interview quality.
How it works: Smart screening, seamlessly built in
The new Screening tab now appears at the top-right corner of every search in the Skillit platform. This is where you can manage the set of questions Sam will ask a worker before offering an interview time.
You have multiple ways to build your screening list:
Describe what you need in plain English, and Sam will generate questions automatically. You can revise these questions at any time prior to Sam reaching out.
Write your own questions using custom wording.
Pull from a shared team-wide question bank, making it easy to reuse and maintain consistency across roles and projects. These serve as templates for future questions.
Each question can be configured with a desired answer and marked as required. If a candidate provides an undesired answer to a required question (like refusing a background check or lacking a must-have certification), Sam will automatically disqualify the candidate and skip interview scheduling altogether.
Keeping you informed every step of the way
Once Sam reaches out to a candidate, you’ll see a card appear in the Interviews tab. If the worker shows interest, the card will update to reflect that pre-screening is underway.
After screening is complete:
Sam proceeds with interview scheduling (if the candidate meets requirements)
Candidate responses are visible directly in the interview card
You can also view answers in the worker’s full profile, tied to the relevant search
