August product updates
Skillit continually strives to make its platform more user friendly, useful and impactful for recruiters and construction hiring teams. In August, our engineering team was buys upgrading some key features to enable even faster sourcing, more complete profiles and filling up recruiting pipelines with more qualified craft workers. Here are the updates that Skillit has launched this month.
Reprioritization of the pocket profile
We’ve made some important updates to the pocket profile experience based on valuable user feedback from the field. One customer pointed out that key details were getting lost when opening a pocket profile in search results.
We reorganized and reprioritized pocket profiles. As a result:
We’ve pushed essential information, like work history, higher in the profile view.
About Me is hidden unless the profile contains content
PDF export and sharing tools have been relocated to appear further down the profile.
These changes reduce visual clutter and help recruiters get to the important profile elements faster. So recruiters can spend less time scanning and more time connecting with qualified talent.
Education added to worker profiles
We’ve added a new education section to worker profiles which is designed to reflect the full range of training that craft and professional workers bring to the job.
Whether it's a four-year degree for field engineers or trade school credentials for skilled craft professionals, this new section allows workers to highlight their education history and helps employers better understand their background.
The education section appears right under work experience.
It's fully keyword searchable, making it helpful for recruiters looking for specific institutions or programs.
As Skillit expands support for professional roles and continues to elevate worker visibility, this enhancement ensures more complete profiles for hiring teams to evaluate
Supply geo updates/loosening
We’ve updated our search logic to surface more qualified candidates by loosening strict geo-based filters. Previously, workers needed to meet both the recruiter’s search radius and their own commute preferences to appear in results. Now, we’ve shifted to an “either/or” model:
Workers now appear if they’re within your search radius OR have put in their profile that they’re willing to commute that distance.
This change gives recruiters more flexibility, especially in low-supply regions, by surfacing talent who may stretch their commute for the right job or pay.
You’ll now see additional context flags on worker profiles like “commute exceeds preference” to help you decide who’s worth reaching out to. Best of all, workers who are truly out of range and not willing to travel will still be excluded to keep your search relevant.
This opens up more matches, faster fills, and better visibility without compromising control.
