Job Description

Are you looking for concrete worker jobs in the commercial, civil or industrial sectors in the US? As part of the construction team, these positions involve performing tasks related to pouring concrete, finishing and site preparation.

Responsibilities

    • Perform physical and general labor for concrete construction work in a diverse range of industrial and commercial projects.

    • Complete concrete pours and finishes and rebar installation. Some masonry and carpentry may be needed.

    • Perform technical elements of concrete work, such as setting, striking and relocating forms, mixing masonry and operating concrete vibrators.

    • Read and interpret technical documents like blueprints, drawings, and construction plans.

    • Screed by using mud rakes to control concrete consistency and achieve smooth finishes.

    • Install and move pump hose lines for effective concrete pours.

    • Supply manual labor support to other construction trades on the job site as needed.

    • Use hand tools and power tools effectively and safely as needed for concrete worker jobs.

    • Load and unload materials effectively with worksite organization.

    • Perform site preparation work like installing vapor barriers, expansion joints, burlap and soaker hoses and weatherproofing buildings.

    • Learn to mark layouts for footers, foundations, ditches and other structural elements.

    • Set job site elevations, points, and benchmarks with surveying devices like laser levels, transits and others.

    • Support site safety walks and pre-job planning to locate hazards such as underground utilities, fall hazards and live wires.

    • Maintain company equipment, tools, vehicles, and worksite safety standards.

    • More experienced workers: Oversee small crews when necessary and mentor junior workers.

    • Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds as required.

    • Work outdoors in different weather conditions and small spaces.

    • Climb and work at heights of 30 feet or more.

Qualifications

For Concrete Worker Positions:

  • Prior experience in concrete worker jobs or concrete construction jobs preferred. The more experience, the higher the demand.

  • Aptitude and familiarity with concrete and general construction trades and practices.

  • Willing to acquire job-specific certifications when required.

  • Physical ability to undertake manual work like walking, working with tools, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and crawling for long periods.

  • Basic construction and mechanical skills with an aptitude towards hands-on work.

  • Ability to use concrete tools like trowels, saws, vibrators and screeds.

  • Ability to operate small equipment independently such as - forklifts, mini excavators, man lifts, skid steers and trench compactors.

  • Familiar with basic math and ability to use tape measures accurately.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.

  • Dedication to workplace safety and compliance with industry regulations.

Work Schedule

  • Full time with potential for overtime

  • Monday to Friday with flexibility for project needs

  • Weekend overtime available
