Job Description
Skillit, America’s largest network of vetted craft workers, is helping top construction companies and reputable contractors find and hire skilled drywall installers and drywall finishers for full time jobs in the commercial sector. Whether you have experience in drywall construction jobs or you are just starting out with basic skills, we have opportunities for you!
Location: Multiple cities across USA
Benefits: Most positions include paid time off, medical and retirement benefits. Specific benefits will be established by the hiring company.
Responsibilities
-
Responsible for the quality of the drywall they install.
Cut, measure, and install drywall sheets to specification.
Nail, screw, and/or glue drywall sheets onto studs.
Tape, apply joint compound, and sand (dry/wet/vacuum) to create a smooth surface.
Repair drywall, fill holes and smooth out surfaces.
Apply finishes or textures to the walls, ceilings and trims using hand/mechanical tools conforming to the required standards of finishing.
Transport materials to job site to meet quality standards and safety regulations.
Additional responsibilities include – reading and interpreting drawings, checking work surfaces, organizing and verifying materials needed for the drywall construction job, skim coating, spraying finishing compound and understanding in detail the 5 levels & methods of drywall finishing.
May involve working at heights, exposure to hot/cold weather, loud noises, dust & fumes.
Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Review blueprints and specifications to provide reliable project quotations.
Plan, organize, and oversee drywall installation projects in a timely manner and within budget.
Oversee client, supplier, and construction activities to maximize efficiency.
Ensure maximum profitability through labor, material, and cost management.
Implement proper safety protocols and building codes.
Qualifications
For Entry-Level Positions:
No experience required; willingness to learn and ability to take on-the-job instructions.
Proficient in the operation of basic power and hand tools required for drywall installers jobs.
Strong work ethic and dependability.
For Skilled Drywall Installers & Finishers:
Previous experience in drywall installation, taping, and finishing. The more experience, the higher the demand from employers.
Knowledge of various drywall techniques, materials, and equipment.
Must have experience in metal stud framing.
Level 5 finishing knowledge and experience.
Thorough operating knowledge of all hand/power tools required for drywall construction jobs, including their uses, repair and maintenance.
Ability to work individually and as a team with good communication skills.
Must have the ability to perform given tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to climb, stand, walk, bend, balance, squat or kneel for prolonged duration.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to but not limited to 100 lbs
Ability to read and understand blueprints and project specifications.
For Estimators & Project Managers:
Solid background in diverse commercial construction estimation, project planning, or site supervision.
Thorough knowledge of drywall materials, labor rates, and schedules.
Experience in drywall construction as project manager/estimator.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Self-motivated with good ability to teach/coach.
Experience with OnCenter/Plexxis software or any equivalent construction management software.
Work Schedule
