Paving Field Manager
About This Role
Paving Field Manager needed in Richmond, VA to run asphalt paving operations on commercial and municipal sites. You’ll lead crews, manage equipment and deliveries, keep work safe and on schedule, and make sure quality and customer expectations are met. This is a hands-on role — you’ll be in the field directing crews and subcontractors, coordinating with project managers and clients, and owning project paperwork (change orders, T&M, daily reports, invoices). What You'll Do
- • Supervise and schedule paving crews, manpower and equipment daily to meet production and quality targets
- • Manage material deliveries, vendor/subcontractor coordination, and on-site logistics to keep work safe and on time
- • Enforce company safety program and PPE use; complete incident reporting and participate in investigations
- • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, inspectors and clients on project plans, traffic control and inspection needs
- • Prepare and maintain project documentation including change orders, T&M records, purchase orders, daily reports and invoices
- • Provide on-the-job training, check work for quality/compaction, and ensure finish meets specs
What We're Looking For
- • 5+ years hands-on asphalt/paving field experience with supervisory responsibility
- • Strong knowledge of paving materials, equipment (pavers, rollers, milling machines) and site layout
- • Proven ability to manage deliveries, subcontractors, and onsite logistics
- • Clear verbal and written communication; able to interface with clients, inspectors and project teams
- • Comfortable with project paperwork: change orders, time & materials, daily job reports and invoicing
- • Reliable, able to work long hours/overtime during paving season and travel to local job sites
Qualifications
- • Valid driver's license; CDL-A preferred
- • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred
- • Traffic control/flagging certification preferred (VA flagging or ATSSA)
- • Basic computer/smartphone skills for digital daily reports and emails
- • English required; Spanish or other languages a plus
- • Drug-free workplace and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
