Scaffold Builder / Carpenter Journeyman - Houston, TX
About This Role
Join a crew building commercial projects across the Houston and San Antonio area as an experienced Scaffold Builder, Carpenter Journeyman, or Foreman. You’ll install and dismantle scaffolding systems, perform rough carpentry and framing, read blueprints, and keep jobs moving safely and on schedule. We need hands-on tradespeople who can lead a small crew or work independently, enforce site safety, coordinate permits/inspections, and deliver quality workmanship on multi-story commercial jobs. This role requires travel between Houston and San Antonio as projects demand and a focus on consistent, safe execution.
What You'll Do
- • Build, modify, and dismantle scaffolding systems for commercial construction projects per drawings and safety standards
- • Perform rough carpentry tasks: layout, measuring, cutting, framing, and temporary structural supports
- • Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and site layouts to complete assigned scope
- • Lead or work within a crew to meet daily production targets and project schedules
- • Enforce job-site safety procedures, perform work inspections, and maintain clean, organized sites
- • Coordinate with supervisors for permits, inspections, and scope definition as needed
What We're Looking For
- • Several years' experience in commercial scaffolding and rough carpentry (journeyman or foreman level)
- • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and perform accurate site layout
- • Proven leadership and team-management skills; experience supervising small crews
- • Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems installation, tie-ins, and fall protection
- • Hands-on ability to measure, cut, fit, and inspect carpentry work to commercial standards
- • Commitment to enforcing safety procedures and maintaining clean, compliant job sites
Qualifications
- • OSHA 30 (required)
- • Fluent English (spoken and read) for safety and blueprint interpretation
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between Houston and San Antonio
- • Able to pass background check and drug screen
- • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and stand for long periods
- • Scaffold Competent Person certification or similar (preferred)
