Commercial Carpenter

About this role

Join a local commercial construction crew in Athens, GA as a Commercial Carpenter focused on concrete formwork and rough wooden structures. You will build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, scaffolds and other temporary supports on commercial projects. The work is hands-on, physical, and often performed outdoors and at elevated heights. You must provide and maintain your basic carpentry tools, follow site safety protocols, and work in a drug-free environment. Daily tasks include measuring, cutting, assembling and stripping forms from sketches, blueprints or oral instructions. Expect to lift materials frequently (up to 50 lbs) and work in varying weather conditions.

What you'll do

• • Build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, and temporary structures from sketches, blueprints or oral instructions
• • Measure, mark, cut and assemble lumber and formwork components; set anchors, ties and bracing
• • Set up and install scaffolding, shoring and other temporary supports safely and to layout requirements
• • Strip forms, clean work area, and perform site cleanup after concrete placement
• • Read and follow drawings, basic site layout, and work with crew leads to meet pour schedules and quality standards

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 3 years commercial construction carpenter experience preferred, especially in concrete formwork and structural rough carpentry
• • Able to work at elevated heights, outdoors in all weather, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs
• • Able to read/interprete sketches and basic blueprints, perform site layout, measuring and cutting
• • Provide and maintain own basic hand tools (hammer, speed square, tape, chalk box, pliers, tool pouch)
• • Work in a drug-free environment and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred (or equivalent safety training)
• • Competency with scaffolding systems and formwork carpentry
• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsite
• • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• • Basic English reading skills for plans and safety communication
