Commercial Carpenter

About This Role

Work as a Commercial Carpenter on concrete formwork and rough wooden structures in Cartersville, GA. This is physical, hands-on work on commercial projects building vertical and horizontal forms, gang forms, scaffolds and temporary supports. Expect outdoor work in all weather and regular work at elevated heights. We're looking for dependable carpenters who can read basic sketches/blueprints, follow instructions on layout and build quality formwork and structural supports. You must have your own basic hand tools and be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely while following site safety rules in a drug-free environment.

What You'll Do

• • Build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, Johnny clamp forms and other temporary structures from sketches, blueprints or oral instructions
• • Set up and install scaffolds, shoring, bracing and temporary supports for bridges, tunnels, slabs and other concrete pours
• • Measure, cut, fit and fasten lumber and formwork components; install form ties and bracing to specified tolerances
• • Perform site layout, set lines and elevations for formwork and coordinate with concrete crews during placement
• • Maintain clean, safe work areas, inspect formwork for defects and make repairs as needed; follow all safety protocols including fall protection and PPE use
• • Load/unload materials, haul lumber and equipment on site and assist with cleanup after pours and shifts

What We're Looking For

• • Minimum 3 years commercial construction carpentry experience preferred, with emphasis on concrete formwork
• • Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, blueprints and layout instructions
• • Comfort working at elevated heights, outdoors in all weather and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs
• • Must provide and maintain own basic carpentry tools (hammer, speed square, tape, chalk box, pliers, tool pouch)
• • Drug-free work environment; must follow site safety rules, fall protection and PPE procedures
• • Experience installing scaffolding systems, measuring/cutting and general rough carpentry for commercial projects

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Cartersville job sites
• • OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred (OSHA 30 a plus)
• • Fall protection training/certification or willingness to complete before working at heights
• • NCCER carpentry credential or equivalent preferred but not required
• • Able to communicate in English for safety and work instructions
