Commercial Carpenter

About This Role

We are hiring a hands-on Commercial Carpenter in Memphis, TN to build rough wooden structures and concrete formwork for commercial projects. This role focuses on vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, scaffolding, and temporary structures. You’ll work outdoors and at elevated heights, often following sketches, blueprints, or verbal instructions. This is a per diem position paying $18–$28/hr. You must bring basic hand tools, follow strict safety protocols, and be able to lift materials up to 50 lbs. OSHA-10 and commercial formwork experience are required or strongly preferred.

What You'll Do

• • Build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, and temporary structures from sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions
• • Lay out and measure formwork, install anchor bolts and tiebacks, and set form components for concrete placement
• • Construct and install scaffolds, frame shelters, tunnel/bridge/sewer supports, and billboard supports as required
• • Read and interpret drawings and perform site layout for formwork and framing tasks
• • Work safely at elevated heights and in outdoor weather conditions while following site safety protocols
• • Carry, position, and secure materials; frequently lift up to 50 lbs and use hand tools to cut, fit, and fasten lumber and formwork

What We're Looking For

• • 3+ years commercial construction carpentry experience preferred, with emphasis on concrete formwork and gang forms
• • Experience with formwork carpentry, general framing, scaffolding systems, and site layout
• • OSHA-10 certification required
• • Able to work at elevated heights, outdoors in all weather, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs
• • Must provide own basic carpenter hand tools (hammer, speed square, tape measure, chalk box, pliers, tool pouch)
• • Able to follow instructions from sketches, blueprints, and verbal direction; reliable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications

• • OSHA-10 certification
• • 3+ years commercial carpentry experience preferred (concrete/formwork experience highly valued)
• • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• • Must provide own basic carpenter hand tools
• • Able to work in a drug-free environment and meet site safety requirements (may include drug screening)
