About this role
We are hiring experienced concrete carpenters in the San Antonio, TX area to build, set and strip formwork for commercial and government construction projects. This is a per diem assignment with opportunities for multi-week placements; candidates willing to relocate are encouraged to apply. You will work with a small crew under site supervision to lay out forms, interpret drawings, and ensure accurate, safe formwork installation. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are required — clear communication on site is essential.
What you'll do
- Lay out, build, set and brace concrete forms for slabs, walls, footings and other cast-in-place elements
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and as-built details to verify form dimensions and tolerances
- Measure, cut and assemble form materials; install ties, hardware and shoring as required
- Ensure form alignment, levelness and dimensional accuracy prior to concrete placement
- Coordinate with concrete crews during placement and removal to protect formwork and finished surfaces
- Maintain tools and equipment, report defects or discrepancies, and follow site safety requirements
What we're looking for
- Proven hands-on experience building concrete formwork on commercial or government projects
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site layout marks and as-built drawings
- Skilled in measuring, cutting and general framing carpentry for form carpentry tasks
- Familiarity with concrete placement processes and working alongside concrete crews
- Ability to work effectively on a crew; carpentry foreman/lead experience is a plus
- Comfortable working outdoors, lifting materials and standing for long shifts
Qualifications
- Bilingual English and Spanish required
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel and relocate for assignments
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen where required
- Safety credentials (OSHA 10/30 or similar) preferred but not required
