Carpenter — Concrete Formwork (Per Diem)
About This Role
Seeking experienced concrete carpenters in the San Antonio, TX area for per diem assignments on commercial and government projects. Pay up to $26/hr. You’ll build and assemble concrete forms, work from drawings, and support concrete placement — all while working closely with a crew on active job sites. This is hands-on work for reliable tradespeople who know formwork and framing. Expect steady short-term assignments, clear tasks each day, and the need to follow safety and quality standards on government and commercial sites.
What You'll Do
- • Build, set up, brace, and strip concrete forms for walls, slabs, and related structures
- • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and as-built drawings to lay out formwork accurately
- • Measure, cut, fit and fasten lumber and form components; install anchors and accessories as required
- • Support concrete placement and finishing crews; ensure forms are secure and correctly aligned before pours
- • Coordinate with crew members and site supervisors to maintain schedule and quality standards
- • Keep work areas organized, perform basic cleanup, and follow site safety procedures and PPE requirements
What We're Looking For
- • 3+ years hands-on experience in concrete formwork carpentry on commercial or government projects
- • Proficient reading and interpreting construction drawings, site layout, and as-built drawings
- • Skilled in measuring, cutting, general framing carpentry, and concrete placement support
- • Experience with civil construction sites, commercial construction practices, and working from specifications
- • Able to work safely as part of a crew, follow directions, and maintain quality under schedule pressure
- • Bilingual: English and Spanish required for effective crew communication
Qualifications
- • Fluent in Spanish and English (required)
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to site
- • OSHA 10-hour (minimum) preferred; OSHA 30 welcome
- • Ability to pass background check and drug screen for government work
- • Experience on government projects or familiarity with government site rules preferred
