Form Carpenter

About this role

Join a field crew in Walterboro, SC as a Form Carpenter building, erecting, bracing and stripping concrete formwork for footings, slabs, walls, columns, piers, ramps and steps. You’ll work from blueprints and shop drawings, measure and cut materials, set and align forms to tolerance, place reinforcement, and assist during concrete pours. This role requires frequent travel to regional job sites and regular overtime. Work is outdoors on active construction sites, so you must follow OSHA and site safety plans, use PPE, and keep a clean, organized work area. On-the-job training and certification support are available for qualified candidates.

What you'll do

• • Build, assemble and strip wood, metal and plastic forms for footings, slabs, walls, columns, piers, ramps and steps.
• • Read blueprints and shop drawings; lay out work, measure and cut materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• • Set, align, brace and shore forms; insert spreaders, tie rods and fasteners; erect scaffolding or rigging as needed.
• • Measure, cut, splice and install rebar, welded wire fabric and bar supports; assist during concrete placement and observe forms during pours.
• • Remove forms after concrete cures; clean, maintain and store formwork and tools; keep jobsite clean and safe.
• • Follow OSHA, building code and site safety plans; report hazards and work cooperatively with foremen, crane operators and other trades.

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 2 years hands-on concrete formwork or general carpentry experience preferred.
• • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and site layout instructions.
• • Skilled with hand and power tools; accurate measuring and cutting to required tolerances.
• • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and performing repeated bending, kneeling and climbing.
• • Available for frequent travel to regional job sites and for 40–55+ hour work weeks with regular overtime.
• • Strong focus on safety, able to follow OSHA and site-specific safety procedures and communicate with crew members.

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification (preferred)
• • First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
• • Powder-actuated tool, aerial lift and/or all-terrain material handler certifications (desirable)
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred)
• • Ability to pass job-site drug screen and background check (where required)
