Form Carpenter

About this role

Hands-on Form Carpenter position based in Davidson, NC. You’ll build and install wood, metal and plastic concrete forms for footings, slabs, walls, columns, piers, ramps and steps. Work is crew-based and requires precise measuring, cutting, bracing and close attention during concrete pours. This role requires regular outdoor work, frequent travel out of town, and work at heights. Expect a typical schedule of 40–55 hours per week. Strong focus on safety, blueprint reading, rebar placement, scaffolding/rigging and clean jobsite habits are essential.

What you'll do

• • Build, assemble and erect wood, metal and plastic concrete forms for footings, slabs, walls, columns, piers, ramps and steps.
• • Read blueprints and shop drawings; measure, cut and fasten materials to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• • Place and brace forms, insert spreaders and tie rods, align to elevation using level and plumb, and secure form panels.
• • Assist with cutting, bending and tying rebar and placing reinforcement inside forms per specifications.
• • Set up scaffolding and rigging, direct crane or equipment lifts as needed, and observe forms during concrete pours to ensure alignment and stability.
• • Remove forms after concrete cure, keep work areas clean and safe, follow site safety plans and report hazards to supervisory staff.

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience building and erecting concrete formwork on commercial or heavy civil projects.
• • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and layout elevations accurately.
• • Skilled with hand and power tools; precise measuring and cutting of wood and metal materials.
• • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, in variable weather and able to travel frequently for projects.
• • Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, use fall protection and perform frequent bending/kneeling.
• • Strong verbal communication with foremen and crew, ability to follow instructions and enforce basic site safety and building codes.

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10-hour preferred; OSHA 30-hour desirable.
• • First Aid / CPR certification preferred.
• • Powder-actuated tool, aerial lift, and all-terrain material handler certifications a plus.
• • Valid driver’s license preferred and ability to travel out of town frequently.
• • High school diploma, GED or apprenticeship training preferred.
• • Able to pass job-site drug screen and background check; English proficiency to read plans and communicate on site.
