Commercial Carpenter

About this role

Join a construction crew in Nashville building rough wooden structures and concrete formwork on commercial projects. This hands-on role focuses on forming vertical and horizontal concrete systems, gang forms, scaffolding and temporary supports from sketches, blueprints or oral instructions. Work is outdoors and often at elevated heights in all weather. You must provide and maintain your own basic carpentry tools, follow strict site safety and drug-free policies, and be able to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs. Reliability, good workmanship, and a focus on safe practices are essential.

What you'll do

• • Build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking and temporary frame structures from sketches, blueprints or oral instructions
• • Assemble and install scaffolding systems, tunnel/bridge supports and other temporary shoring as required by the project
• • Measure, cut and fit lumber and form materials; set anchors, ties and bracing to spec
• • Work at elevated heights and outdoors in varying weather while following site safety rules and PPE requirements
• • Keep work areas organized and clean, assist with loading/unloading materials, and perform quality checks on completed work

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 3 years commercial construction carpentry experience preferred; hands-on formwork experience strongly preferred
• • Comfortable working at heights, outdoors in all weather, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs repeatedly
• • Able to read and interpret basic drawings, sketches and layout instructions
• • Provide and maintain your own basic carpentry tools (hammer, tape measure, speed square, chalk box, pliers, tool pouch, etc.)
• • Willingness to follow strict site safety procedures and maintain a drug-free work environment

Qualifications

• • OSHA-10 card preferred
• • Scaffold user/erector training preferred
• • CPR/First Aid preferred
• • High school diploma or GED preferred
• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Nashville job sites
• • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
