Carpenter — Concrete Formwork (Commercial)
About This Role
Hands-on commercial carpenter role in Nashville building vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, scaffolds and other temporary structures. Work is outdoors and at elevated heights, following strict safety and drug-free site rules. This is physical, practical work: you’ll read sketches/blueprints or follow oral instructions, measure, cut and assemble formwork, and be able to lift materials up to 50 lbs. Applicants must provide and use their own basic carpentry tools. Pay up to $50/hr based on experience.
What You'll Do
- • Build vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking and temporary frame structures from sketches, blueprints or oral instructions
- • Measure, mark, cut and fit lumber and hardware for formwork; install and remove form ties, bracing and sheathing
- • Assemble, install and secure scaffolds, tunnel/bridge supports, and other temporary access structures per drawings and safety standards
- • Work at elevated heights and outdoors in all weather while following safety plans and wearing required PPE
- • Perform site cleanup, inspect work for quality, and report issues or material needs to foreman or lead
- • Follow company safety and drug-free policies; participate in toolbox talks and on-the-job safety training
What We're Looking For
- • 3+ years commercial construction carpentry preferred, with experience on concrete formwork and gang forms
- • Able to read and interpret drawings, layouts and basic blueprints; strong measuring and cutting skills
- • Comfortable working at elevated heights and outdoors in changing weather; able to lift frequently up to 50 lbs
- • Must provide and maintain your own basic carpentry tools (hammer, tape, speed square, chalk line, tape measure, pliers, tool pouch, etc.)
- • Willingness to follow strict safety protocols, drug-free workplace rules, and site-specific procedures
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10-hour construction safety preferred (or willing to obtain)
- • Fall protection / scaffold training preferred
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to jobsite
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • Basic blueprint/drawing reading skills; NCCER or equivalent carpentry credentials a plus
