Concrete Carpenter (Per Diem)

Amarillo, TX $19-$30/hr

About this role

Experienced concrete carpenters needed in Amarillo, TX to build, assemble and secure formwork for commercial and government construction projects. You’ll work from drawings and specifications to layout, assemble panels and timber forms, set anchors and bracing, and support concrete placement and finishing crews. This is a per diem position and open to workers willing to relocate. Expect hands-on formwork, rigging and scaffold work, long days on site, and close teamwork with concrete crews and foremen. You must be dependable, able to read construction drawings, and committed to accuracy and safety on every pour.

What you'll do

  • Build, assemble and set concrete forms, bracing and shoring for slabs, walls and structural elements
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, civil layouts and project specifications to lay out formwork accurately
  • Install concrete reinforcing anchors, embed items, and coordinate with rebar crews
  • Support concrete placement: rigging, coordinating pours, checking tolerances and protecting fresh concrete
  • Inspect formwork for alignment, strength and safety; fix defects and ensure quality before pours
  • Maintain tools and equipment, follow site safety rules, and communicate with supervisors and crew members on job progress

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience building commercial formwork and shoring systems on large projects, including government work
  • Ability to read and interpret construction and civil drawings, dimensions, and layout plans
  • Hands-on skills with concrete placement support: formwork carpentry, concrete reinforcing, rigging and scaffold systems
  • Experience with time-and-material management, site layout, work inspection and training crew members on formwork tasks
  • Comfort working long schedules and in extreme temperatures (heat/cold) on active job sites
  • Reliable, team-focused attitude with strong attention to accuracy, quality and safety

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English and Spanish (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to job sites
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Rigging and scaffold experience; rigging/scaffold certification preferred
  • Able to lift heavy materials, work at heights and perform physical labor in varied weather conditions
