Formwork Carpenter

Orange, VA $22-$29/hr

About this role

Experienced concrete formwork carpenter needed for regional projects based out of Orange, VA. Work under a foreman to build, install, strip and repair structural concrete forms on footings, walls, columns, decks and slab-on-grade. The role emphasizes safe, quality work and ongoing on-the-job training. You'll work on a variety of form types including wood, plywood and steel, and help prep tilt-up and precast elements. This is hands-on work—expect physical labor, travel to nearby job sites, and steady skill development through company-led safety and trade training.

What you'll do

  • Construct, erect, strip and repair wood, plywood and steel concrete forms per construction documents and layout
  • Install footing, wall, column, structural deck and slab-on-grade forms and ensure proper bracing and ties
  • Prep and set tilt‑up and precast forms; work with building layout and survey/level information
  • Assist with concrete placement, finishing support, curing and protection as directed
  • Maintain tools and equipment; report defects and perform basic form repairs
  • Follow site safety rules, attend toolbox talks and participate in required training/certifications

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years concrete formwork/carpentry experience on commercial projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and layout
  • Physically fit for heavy lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in all weather
  • Must pass a background check and be a U.S. citizen
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years formwork/carpentry experience on concrete projects
  • OSHA 10-hour construction card preferred or willing to obtain
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Able to pass background check (required) and drug screen if applicable
  • Proficient in English for reading plans and safety communication
