About this role
Baker Construction is hiring Carpenters in Richmond, VA to support concrete construction projects. Carpenters will perform formwork, framing and layout tasks under the supervision of a foreman or lead on commercial concrete jobs. This position provides steady work and opportunities to train and advance for those with grit and determination. The role focuses on forming and framing for concrete structures—footings, walls, columns, decks, slab-on-grade and tilt-up/precast work—while following construction documents and maintaining a safe work environment.
What you'll do
- Build and install footing, wall, column, deck, slab-on-grade, and tilt-up/precast concrete forms
- Perform framing and forming for concrete structures using hand and power tools
- Work from construction documents and assist with building layout and site layout tasks
- Set slab-on-grade forms and prep/set tilt-up or precast forms as required
- Erect, strip, repair, and adjust wood, steel and plywood formwork components
- Maintain a safe work environment and participate in required training and certifications
What we're looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in concrete form carpentry
- Experience forming and framing decking, walls and columns for concrete structures
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
- Proficient with common carpenter hand and power tools; measuring and cutting skills
- Experience with concrete formwork carpentry and general concrete work
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years related experience and/or training in concrete form carpentry
- Competency reading construction drawings and performing site layout
- Willingness to participate in required training and certifications
