Per Diem
Carpenter (Per Diem) - San Antonio, TX
About This Role
Per diem Carpenter needed for hands-on construction work in San Antonio, TX. You’ll be working on concrete-related carpentry — formwork for slabs, tilt walls, elevated forms — plus general wood and metal framing, finishing, and trim. This is a day-rate position for skilled carpenters ready to move between sites and hit the ground running. Ideal candidates read blueprints, perform both rough and finish carpentry, and are comfortable with scaffolding, crane signaling and elevated work. Assignments focus on efficient, safe execution of formwork and framing tasks with attention to layout, measurements and quality inspections.
What You'll Do
- • Set, build and strip concrete formwork for slabs, walls and elevated pours; ensure forms are square, plumb and braced.
- • Read plans and layout cut lists; measure, mark and cut lumber and metal framing to spec for floor, wall and roof framing.
- • Install interior and exterior nonbearing partitions, trim, doors, windows, cabinets, countertops and finish carpentry items.
- • Install scaffolding systems and perform safe elevated work; perform crane signaling and assist with rigging for formwork and materials.
- • Perform site layout, inspect completed work for code and quality compliance, and correct issues before concrete placement.
- • Assist with on-site training, coordinate with crew on material needs, maintain tools and equipment, and complete daily time/material logs.
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience in concrete formwork (slab, tilt walls, elevated forms) and general framing (wood and metal).
- • Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints, create layouts and accurate cut lists.
- • Skilled in both rough and finish carpentry: framing, trim, cabinet and countertop installation.
- • Experience with scaffolding systems, crane signaling, elevated work and concrete reinforcing details.
- • Strong measuring/cutting skills, site layout, and ability to perform quality inspections on completed work.
- • Reliable, able to work per diem assignments, follow jobsite safety rules and communicate clearly with crew leads.
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for per diem assignments
- • OSHA 10-hour (preferred) or OSHA 30-hour safety card
- • Crane signaling or rigging certification (preferred) and experience with overhead lifts
- • Proven carpentry trade experience (bench, finish, rough, formwork) with references
- • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
What We Offer
- • Competitive per diem pay (daily rate) and paid travel between sites
- • Overtime available on extended projects and concrete pours
- • Per diem/meal allowance while on assignment
- • Tool allowance or reimbursement for job-specific equipment
- • Steady run of assignments in the San Antonio area for reliable carpenters
- • Clear scope of work and daily assignments — minimal administrative overhead on site
