Journeyman Carpenter
About This Role
Experienced journeyman carpenter needed in Abilene, TX for day-shift work. Pay is $32/hour with $130 per day worked in per diem. This role focuses on wood framing, finish and rough carpentry on residential and light commercial jobs. You must have 5+ years of hands-on carpentry experience, be able to read drawings and layout work accurately, and handle measuring, cutting and installation tasks safely and efficiently. Steady, reliable workers who take pride in quality craftsmanship are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
- • Read and interpret drawings and layout plans; verify measurements and material lists
- • Perform general rough and finish carpentry: framing walls, floors, roofs, and trim work
- • Measure, mark and cut lumber and sheet goods; install framing members and sheathing
- • Install doors, windows, stair components, and finish trim as required
- • Maintain and care for hand and power tools; keep job site clean and organized
- • Follow jobsite safety rules and communicate with crew leads to keep projects on schedule
What We're Looking For
- • 5+ years journeyman-level carpentry experience (rough and finish)
- • Proven ability with wood framing: floor, wall and roof framing
- • Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
- • Strong measuring, cutting and layout skills; comfortable with hand and power tools
- • Ability to lift heavy materials and work on ladders/scaffolds safely
- • Reliable attendance; ability to work day shift and follow crew schedules
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
- • OSHA 10-hour safety card or similar safety training (preferred)
- • Ability to communicate in English on the job site
