Concrete Carpenter — Journeyman (Per Diem, Traveling)

Wakefield, MA $29-$47/hr

About this role

Traveling journeyman-level concrete carpenter needed for per-diem assignments based in Wakefield, MA. This role focuses on layout, building, installing and stripping concrete formwork and the structural carpentry that supports cast-in-place concrete on commercial and heavy civil projects. You’ll travel to nearby project sites, work with concrete crews and superintendents, and follow site-specific safety and quality standards. Assignments are typically multi-week; you must be able to follow drawings, set elevations, install shoring and scaffolding, and work reliably on a per-diem travel schedule.

What you'll do

  • Layout, build, install and strip concrete formwork per drawings and specifications
  • Install shoring, shores, bracing and temporary structural framing around concrete pours
  • Read and interpret construction drawings; set elevations, form lines and embed locations
  • Install and inspect scaffolding and access systems as required for formwork and finishing operations
  • Coordinate with concrete crews, pump operators and QC to ensure proper placement and finishing conditions
  • Maintain tools, clean and organize work area, complete daily reports and enforce site safety procedures

What we're looking for

  • Journeyman-level carpentry experience with a focus on concrete formwork and structural carpentry
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and perform layout work
  • Experience with scaffolding systems installation, shoring and bracing
  • Hands-on experience with general concrete work and form stripping procedures
  • Strong commitment to enforcing and following site safety procedures and PPE use
  • Willingness to travel on per-diem assignments and work extended project shifts as needed

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; scaffold and fall protection certifications a plus
  • Journeyman card, trade certificate, or equivalent documented experience
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
  • Physically able to lift, climb, and work outdoors in varying conditions
