About This Role

Experienced Concrete Carpenter Journeyman needed for per diem industrial/power plant projects in Abilene, TX. Assignment will be managed from Forsyth, GA — travel and daily per diem expected. Work will focus on heavy formwork, concrete pours, finishing, and quality checks to meet project specifications. This is hands-on field work in an industrial environment. You'll read blueprints, build and brace wooden and prefabricated forms, place rebar and embeds, pour and finish concrete, and inspect work for compliance with plans and safety standards. Strong safety habits and industrial experience are required — this job involves heights, confined spaces, and variable weather conditions.

What You'll Do

  • Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans and specifications; visualize structures in three dimensions from drawings.
  • Measure, cut, assemble and install built-in-place or prefabricated forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts; install spreaders, tie-rods and bracing.
  • Erect, brace and secure wooden and prefabricated concrete forms; adjust layout and maintain required dimensions.
  • Pour concrete into forms, finish surfaces to specifications and install related embeds and anchors.
  • Inspect work for quality and compliance with contract plans; identify deficiencies and take corrective action or report to supervision.
  • Work safely on industrial/power plant sites — follow permit, confined-space and fall-protection procedures; maintain a clean, organized work area.

What We're Looking For

  • Journeyman-level experience with concrete formwork and finishing in industrial or power plant settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools, layout tools, measuring devices and formwork hardware.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on scaffolding and in confined spaces; able to follow safety protocols and wear PPE.
  • Able to travel to Abilene, TX from Forsyth, GA for per diem assignments; must have reliable transportation and required hand tools.
  • Must pass pre-access drug & alcohol testing, fit-for-duty medical screening and background check.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Confined Space Entry training and Fall Protection training preferred.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred; ability to complete fit-for-duty medical screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; must provide and maintain required personal tools.
  • English proficiency for reading plans and written/verbal communication; able to follow written instructions and site procedures.
