Finish Carpenter — Millwork Installer
About this role
We need a skilled finish carpenter in Austin, TX to install high-level millwork: wood casework, plastic laminate, ornamental metalwork, wall paneling, doors, frames and specialty items. You'll work on commercial job sites installing casework, fume hoods, countertops and trim, focusing on accuracy, durability and a clean finished look. This is hands-on fieldwork. You’ll preplan tools and materials, read and follow blueprints and shop drawings, and work with minimal supervision while following the site safety program. Expect a mix of solo tasks and crew-based installs on projects across the Austin area.
What you'll do
- • Install AWW/PL and metal casework, fume hoods, countertops, wall paneling, and specialty millwork per drawings
- • Set up and preplan jobs: organize tools, materials, fasteners and the safest, most efficient installation sequence
- • Install doors, frames and hardware; perform precise measuring, cutting and fit-up for finish components
- • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and as-built notes to ensure accurate installations
- • Follow site safety program: report hazards, use Stop Work Authority, and report incidents promptly
- • Work with minimal supervision, coordinate with trades on site, and maintain a clean, organized work area
What we're looking for
- • 3–5 years finished carpentry experience with casework, plastic laminate and architectural millwork
- • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and technical details
- • Provide and maintain your own basic hand and power tools; ability to use measuring and cutting tools accurately
- • Physically able to climb ladders and scaffolds, stoop/kneel/crouch, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive manual tasks
- • Strong bench and finish carpentry skills: trim, paneling, cabinet and countertop installation, door/hardware installation
- • Able to work independently, follow directions, and communicate clearly with supervisors and crew
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or equivalent
- • 3–5 years experience as a finish carpenter on commercial projects
- • Union membership where applicable
- • OSHA 10-hour construction card or equivalent safety training preferred
- • Ability to pass site-specific safety orientation and drug screening if required
