Finish Carpenter – Millwork Installer (Austin, TX)
About This Role
We’re hiring a skilled finish carpenter in Austin, TX to handle high-level millwork: woodwork, casework (plastic laminate and metal), wall paneling, and ornamental metalwork. You’ll install casework, fume hoods, doors, frames, hardware and other specialties on commercial jobsites, working to layout specs and blueprints. This role requires someone who preplans tools and materials, follows the site safety program, reports hazards and incidents, reads drawings, and works with minimal supervision. Expect physical work—ladders, scaffolds, lifting up to 50 lbs—and a hands-on role where quality and speed matter.
What You'll Do
- • Install AWW, PL and metal casework, fume hoods, wall paneling, and ornamental metalwork to plan and specs
- • Set and install doors, frames, hardware, and miscellaneous specialties (cabinetry, countertops, trim)
- • Preplan tools, materials, and installation techniques for the safest and most efficient workflow
- • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and as-built documents; perform site layout and measuring
- • Follow and participate in the site safety program; report hazards, incidents and use Stop Work Authority
- • Maintain personal tools, keep jobsite tidy, and coordinate with foremen and trades with minimal supervision
What We're Looking For
- • 3–5 years’ experience as a finished carpenter or in architectural millwork/casework
- • Hands-on experience with plastic laminate, cabinet and casework installation, and door/hardware hanging
- • Able to read technical drawings and blueprints; strong measuring and cutting skills
- • Supply and maintain personal carpenter tools; work reliably with minimal supervision
- • Physically able to climb ladders/scaffolds, stoop, kneel, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs
- • Union membership where applicable and able to work on commercial construction sites
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • 3–5 years finished carpentry/architectural millwork experience
- • OSHA 10 (preferred) or equivalent safety training
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Austin job sites
- • Union membership where applicable
- • Ability to pass pre-employment safety screenings and follow site safety rules
