Carpenter (Millwork Installer)
About this role
We're hiring a skilled carpenter in Houston, TX to perform high-level millwork and finish carpentry on commercial projects. You will install wood and metal casework, wall paneling, countertops, doors, frames, hardware and other specialties, working from blueprints and shop drawings to deliver clean, accurate installations. You will preplan tools and materials, choose safe and efficient installation methods, and follow the site safety program. This role requires someone who can work with minimal supervision, communicate with supervisors and other trades, and take responsibility for reporting hazards and incidents promptly.
What you'll do
- • Install wood, plastic-laminate and metal casework, fume hoods, countertops, wall paneling, doors, frames, hardware and other specialties
- • Preplan tools, materials and installation techniques to complete work safely and efficiently
- • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and as-built documents; perform site layout, measuring and cutting
- • Set, trim, fasten and finish cabinetry, paneling, trim, and millwork to specified tolerances
- • Follow site safety program: report hazards, use Stop Work Authority when needed, and report all incidents
- • Maintain personal tools and keep a clean, organized work area; communicate progress and issues to supervisors
What we're looking for
- • 3–5 years finished carpentry or architectural millwork experience (casework, plastic laminate preferred)
- • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and as-built drawings
- • Supply and maintain your own hand and small power tools
- • Comfortable working on ladders/scaffolds and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly
- • Able to work with minimal supervision and follow installation schedules
- • Union membership where applicable or willingness to join when required
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • 3–5 years of finish carpentry/architectural millwork experience
- • Proven ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Houston-area job sites
- • OSHA 10 or equivalent site safety training preferred
- • Able to complete site safety orientation and any required background or drug screening
