Carpenter Foreman (Scaffold & Rough Carpentry) — NYC

About this role

Seeking a foreman-level carpenter based in the New York City area to lead scaffold erection and rough carpentry on open-shop projects. This is a hands-on field role for an experienced lead worker who can set up and inspect scaffolding, manage small crews, and perform structural framing and rough carpentry tasks across commercial and residential sites. You will be the on-site lead for scaffold systems and framing operations, coordinating daily work, enforcing site safety, and ensuring quality of structural carpentry. Reliable travel across NYC boroughs and the ability to work varying shifts, including potential overtime, are required.

What you'll do

• • Erect, modify, inspect and dismantle frame & brace scaffold systems safely and to plan specifications
• • Perform general rough and framing carpentry: layout, cutting, blocking, temporary bracing, and structural assemblies
• • Lead and supervise a small crew in the field; assign tasks, monitor productivity, and maintain quality control
• • Coordinate daily with general contractors, trades, and site supervisors on sequencing and access needs
• • Maintain tools, materials and scaffold inventories on site; document inspections and report any safety issues immediately

What we're looking for

• • Foreman-level experience on NYC-area projects with proven scaffold erection and scaffold system know-how
• • Strong rough and framing carpentry skills: layout, cutting, blocking, bracing and structural work
• • Experience supervising crews, directing daily field work and enforcing site safety procedures
• • Ability to read basic plans and layout drawings and perform accurate field measurements
• • Valid driver's license, dependable transportation for travel between NYC sites; comfortable working at heights

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred or equivalent site safety training
• • Site-specific scaffold training or scaffold competency card (frame & brace scaffolding experience required)
• • Journeyman carpenter level experience or demonstrated equivalent in rough/framing carpentry
• • Strong working knowledge of scaffold safety rules, fall-protection requirements, and inspection procedures
• • English required; Spanish or additional language skills are a plus
• • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout New York City
