Carpenter (Field) — Minneapolis, MN
About This Role
Join a hands-on construction team as a Carpenter in Minneapolis, MN. You’ll build and repair wood and wallboard fixtures, set up trailers and temporary structures, and work on concrete formwork, decks, roofs, finish carpentry, and site erosion controls. This role is practical, physical work — the focus is on doing quality carpentry safely and on schedule. You’ll read blueprints, measure and cut materials, assist with grades and prefabricated erection, and work closely with journeymen and foremen. Ideal candidates have at least two years of carpentry experience, a strong attention to detail, and a team-first attitude.
What You'll Do
- • Read blueprints and plans to determine materials, measurements, and layout
- • Set up trailers, tool conexes, temporary structures, silt fences, and erosion controls
- • Perform rough carpentry and concrete formwork: hand-set forms, gang forms, footings, and structural decks
- • Build decks, stairs, roofs, install doors, frames, hardware, millwork, and cabinetry; drywall hanging and finishing as needed
- • Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials; assist with shooting grades and elevations
- • Keep work areas clean and safe; follow site traffic control and scaffolding procedures
What We're Looking For
- • Minimum 2 years of carpentry experience in commercial or residential construction
- • Proven ability with rough and finish carpentry: framing, formwork, door/hardware, cabinetry, and drywall
- • Skill reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
- • Able to measure, cut, and install materials accurately using hand and power tools
- • Physically able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive motions, and work outdoors in varying conditions
- • Strong teamwork, reliable attendance, clear communication, and basic English comprehension
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • Minimum of two (2) years carpentry experience
- • Trade or technical school certificate/diploma preferred
- • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive hand/arm/leg movements
