Carpenter Journeyman
About This Role
We’re hiring a hands-on Carpenter Journeyman in San Antonio, TX to install safety and functional materials on active construction sites. You’ll focus on keeping crews safe by building temporary structures, covering hazards, mounting equipment in site trailers, and maintaining clean, organized work areas. This is field work — you’ll work with the foreperson and safety leader, follow site safety protocols, report incidents, and complete work to code. Candidates should have at least 2 years carpentry experience and be ready to work in changing weather and fast-paced job sites. OSHA 10 recommended; assistance available if needed.
What You'll Do
- • Install job-site safety items: safety rails, toe boards, ramps, temporary walls/enclosures, elevator protection and trailer decks
- • Build planning tables and hang safety signage throughout the site
- • Cover holes/open areas and address other immediate hazards to protect crews
- • Mount Smartboards, TVs and shelving in job-site trailers; secure and test installations
- • Follow directions from Foreperson and Safety Leader; report all incidents and injuries promptly
- • Keep work areas clean and ready for trades; perform basic site layout and measurements
What We're Looking For
- • 2+ years of hands-on carpentry experience (finish and rough carpentry)
- • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education/experience
- • Basic measuring, cutting, framing and installation skills; knowledge of building codes
- • Able to work outdoors in hot/cold weather and lift/carry materials regularly
- • Strong verbal/written communication with crew and supervisors; follow safety procedures
- • OSHA 10 hour recommended (assistance available if needed)
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • Minimum 2 years carpentry experience
- • OSHA 10-hour preferred (will assist to obtain if needed)
- • English required (able to read safety signs and report incidents)
- • Proof of certifications/degrees to be provided upon hire
- • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred
