Concrete Formwork Carpenter
About this role
Join a local concrete formwork crew in Washington, DC building and installing structural concrete forms under the direction of a foreman. This hands-on role focuses on footing, wall, column, deck, slab-on-grade and tilt-up/precast formwork using wood, plywood and steel systems. You’ll work on layout, set and strip forms, repair formwork, and help keep the site safe and productive. Ongoing site-specific training and certifications are provided so you can sharpen your skills and advance on the job.
What you'll do
- • Construct, erect, strip and repair wood, plywood and steel concrete forms per construction documents and foreman direction
- • Install footing, wall, column, structural deck and slab-on-grade forms and prepare areas for concrete placement
- • Prep and set tilt-up and precast forms and assist with building layout and form alignment
- • Use hand and power carpentry tools for measuring, cutting, fastening and bracing of formwork components
- • Follow site safety procedures, participate in training and help maintain a clean, organized work area
What we're looking for
- • High school diploma or equivalent
- • Minimum 2 years of related carpentry/formwork experience (concrete formwork preferred)
- • Ability to read basic construction drawings, perform layout and take accurate measurements
- • Physically able to lift, carry and handle materials and work outdoors in varied weather
- • Must pass a background check and be available to work on jobs in Washington, DC
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • 2+ years concrete formwork or rough carpentry experience
- • Proficient in reading construction drawings and site layout
- • Ability to pass background check
- • OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training preferred
