Carpenter - Concrete Formwork

About this role

Join a local concrete construction crew in Washington, DC as a concrete formwork carpenter. Under the direction of a foreman, you will build, erect, strip and repair wood, plywood and steel forms for footings, walls, columns, decks and slab-on-grade work. The role emphasizes hands-on trade work, jobsite safety and steady, organized project schedules. This position is for a dependable carpenter with formwork experience who wants consistent local work and opportunities to train and advance. You will work with layout, prepare tilt-up and precast forms, operate common carpentry tools, and participate in ongoing site safety training and certifications.

What you'll do

  • Construct, erect, strip and repair wood, plywood and steel concrete forms per construction documents
  • Install footing, wall, column, structural deck and slab-on-grade forms
  • Prepare and set tilt-up and precast formwork; assist with building layout and site layout tasks
  • Read drawings and layout lines; measure, cut and fit form components to tolerance
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools; ensure tools and formwork materials are secure and in good condition
  • Follow site safety procedures, attend required safety training, and maintain a clean, hazard-free work area

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years of related carpentry/formwork experience
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and site layout
  • Competent with general rough carpentry, measuring, cutting and formwork erection methods
  • Capable of performing physical work in outdoor conditions, including lifting and carrying heavy materials
  • Willingness to participate in site safety training and certifications; must pass a background check

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of concrete formwork/carpentry experience
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and site layout
  • Willing to complete site-specific safety training and certifications (OSHA 10 preferred)
