Concrete Formwork Carpenter

Washington, DC $27-$36/hr

About this role

Join a Washington, DC crew building and installing structural concrete forms under a foreman’s direction. This hands-on role focuses on footing, wall, column, structural deck and slab-on-grade formwork, plus setting tilt-up and precast pieces. You’ll use both hand and power tools and work from construction documents and layout lines. Safety and training are a priority. Expect steady, lined-up work, paid training/certifications, and opportunities to build skills and advance. We’re looking for reliable carpenters with strong formwork experience who take pride in quality concrete work.

What you'll do

  • Construct, erect, strip, and repair wood, plywood, and steel concrete forms per construction documents
  • Install footing, wall, column, structural deck, and slab-on-grade forms
  • Prep and set tilt-up and precast forms; work with building layout and layout stakes/lines
  • Measure, cut, fasten, and brace form components using carpenter hand and power tools
  • Follow site safety plans, use required PPE, maintain clean, organized work areas
  • Participate in on-the-job training, certifications, and direction from the foreman

What we're looking for

  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years related carpentry/formwork experience
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and basic site layout
  • Proficient with carpenter hand and power tools, measuring, and cutting materials
  • Able to lift heavy materials, work outdoors in varying conditions, and stand for long periods
  • Must pass a background check and follow site safety procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years concrete formwork or rough carpentry experience
  • Ability to read construction drawings and perform site layout
  • Must pass background check
  • OSHA 10 (or equivalent) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
