Concrete Finisher

About this role

Wayne Brothers is hiring a Concrete Finisher for concrete construction and civil/infrastructure projects in Walterboro, SC. The role focuses on safely placing, leveling, finishing, curing and patching concrete while working as part of a finishing crew. The position requires hands-on use of screeds, bull floats, trowel machines, edgers and jointers, assisting with placement, grading and vibration, and performing QC checks and patching defects. Work is frequently outdoors, requires regular travel to job sites, and involves physical tasks including lifting up to 90 lbs.

What you'll do

• Place, screed and level freshly poured concrete using hand and mechanical screeds, bull floats and trowel machines
• Edge, joint and finish slab surfaces with edgers, jointers and hand tools; apply dry shake surface hardener when specified
• Assist with concrete placement from truck chutes and pump hoses; consolidate with vibrators and establish finish grades
• Perform quality checks, patch defects with cement mortar and report issues to foreman or superintendent
• Clean, maintain and load/unload finishing hand and power tools; operate equipment and transfer tools between trucks and slabs
• Follow site safety rules, work outdoors in changing conditions and travel to jobsites as required

What we're looking for

• Experience placing and finishing concrete on construction or civil/infrastructure projects
• Ability to operate finishing tools and machinery (screeds, bull floats, trowel machines, edgers, jointers) and use concrete vibrators
• Basic reading, writing and communication to follow safety rules, drawings and direction from supervisors
• Comfort working outdoors, frequently traveling and walking on uneven terrain
• Able to stand long periods and lift, carry or move up to 90 lbs
• Valid driver’s license for travel to and from job sites

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• First Aid / CPR — preferred
• OSHA 10 — preferred
• WB Rough Terrain Forklift Certification or forklift operator certification — preferred
