Concrete Finisher

About this role

Join a finishing crew on civil and infrastructure projects in Walterboro, SC. You’ll place, level, finish, cure and patch concrete using screeds, bull floats, trowel machines, edgers, jointers and hand tools. Work is outdoors and project-based — expect frequent travel and multi-day job sites. This is a hands-on role for a reliable tradesperson who follows safety rules, produces quality slabs, and helps keep tools and equipment ready. The position requires physical stamina (lifting up to 90 lbs), basic QC skills, and the ability to work as part of a crew and train less experienced teammates.

What you'll do

• • Set, use and monitor screeds, bull floats, truss screeds and trowel machines to level and finish concrete slabs and slabs-on-grade.
• • Assist with concrete placement: chute/pump hose guidance, grading, vibrating/consolidating, and initial screeding.
• • Edge, joint and finish slab edges using edgers, jointers and hand tools; apply surface hardener and evaporation retarder as specified.
• • Perform QC checks, patch defects with cement mortar, and make finish adjustments to meet flatness and surface specs.
• • Clean and maintain hand and power tools; load/unload equipment and help move finishing gear on site (may operate forklifts with certification).
• • Follow site safety plans and OSHA rules, wear required PPE, report hazards, and coach apprentices or technicians when needed.

What we're looking for

• • Previous concrete finishing experience on commercial, civil or infrastructure projects; comfortable with hand and power finishing tools.
• • Ability to perform physical work outdoors in changing weather and travel frequently for multi-day projects.
• • Capable of lifting, carrying and moving up to 90 lbs and standing/working on uneven terrain for long periods.
• • Basic reading and communication skills to follow instructions, read plans/checklists and complete QC checks.
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from job sites.
• • Willingness to follow job-site safety rules, complete site-specific training, and wear required PPE.

Qualifications

• • High school diploma or GED
• • Valid Driver's License
• • First Aid / CPR (preferred)
• • OSHA 10 (preferred)
• • Rough-terrain forklift certification (preferred)
• • Ability to pass background and drug screening as required by project
