Journeyman Concrete Finisher

About this role

Seeking a skilled journeyman concrete finisher in Huntsville, AL to handle flatwork and structural finishes. The right candidate has at least 5 years of hands-on concrete finishing experience and can work independently to produce smooth, level, durable surfaces. You’ll be responsible for placing, finishing, and curing concrete on commercial and industrial projects. This role requires strong layout and finishing skills, the ability to read plans, and the discipline to maintain quality, safety, and deadlines on site.

What you'll do

• • Set layout, forms, and screeds for slabs, sidewalks, and structural elements; place and consolidate concrete.
• • Perform finishing operations: bullfloating, hand floating, edging, jointing, power trowel operation, and final touches for smooth, durable surfaces.
• • Apply proper curing techniques and joint installation to control cracking and ensure long-term performance.
• • Read and interpret drawings and specifications; verify elevations, tolerances, and slab flatness requirements.
• • Maintain tools and equipment, perform basic upkeep, and keep work area clean and safe.
• • Coordinate with crew members and trade partners to sequence work and meet schedule requirements.

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5 years concrete finishing experience at the journeyman level with proven flatwork and structural finishing skills.
• • Skilled in placing, consolidating, screeding, finishing, power trowel operation, jointing, and curing methods.
• • Ability to read drawings, perform site layout, and check elevations and slab tolerances.
• • Capable of working independently, supervising small crews, and following quality and safety standards.
• • Reliable transportation to site and willingness to work the project schedule, including potential overtime and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• • Journeyman-level concrete finisher with 5+ years’ experience
• • OSHA-10 (preferred) and site safety training completion
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
• • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, stand and work outdoors in all weather conditions
