Journeyman Concrete Finisher

About this role

We need a journeyman-level concrete finisher in Huntsville, AL to handle on-site flatwork and structural concrete finishing. You’ll work independently and with small crews to place, finish, and cure concrete to durable, smooth standards. Ideal candidates have at least 5 years’ hands-on experience, can read drawings, set layout, install joints, and deliver consistent, high-quality finishes. This is a full-time, on-site role that may include overtime and occasional weekend work depending on project schedule.

What you'll do

• • Read plans and layout points; set forms and screed elevations for flatwork and structural pours
• • Place, consolidate, finish, and cure concrete for slabs, sidewalks, ramps, and structural elements
• • Install control and expansion joints, perform saw-cutting and edge detail work, and finish surfaces to specification
• • Operate common finishing tools and equipment (screeds, bullfloats, trowels, power trowels, saws, drills) and maintain tools
• • Inspect finished work for quality, perform concrete repair or touch-up as needed, and follow site safety procedures

What we're looking for

• • Minimum 5 years concrete finishing experience at journeyman level with proven flatwork and structural finishes
• • Proficient with placing, finishing, curing, and protecting concrete to achieve smooth, level, durable surfaces
• • Ability to read and interpret drawings and perform site layout for slabs and pours
• • Skilled operating finishing equipment and tools; experience with saw-cutting, drilling, and concrete repair
• • Able to work independently, manage time on-site, and coordinate with small crews; reliable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications

• • Journeyman-level trade certification or equivalent 5+ years of verifiable experience
• • OSHA 10 (preferred) or site safety orientation completion
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job site
• • Willingness to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor weather conditions; basic English literacy for reading plans and communicating
