Concrete Worker

About this role

NCW is hiring industrial concrete workers in Vinton, TX for construction of a new melt shop and caster at a steel mill. Roles include wall labor/carpentry and rodbuster duties on an industrial concrete project. Work starts 09.08.26 on a schedule of 4:00 AM–2:30 PM, six days per week (6x10s). The assignment is planned for a minimum of two months with the intent to move strong performers to the next site. Job site: 8100 Border Steel Rd, Vinton, TX. All personnel must complete a site safety orientation and site-specific training upon arrival. Candidates must provide documentation of a passed 10-panel urine rapid drug screen and proof of OSHA 10-hour construction training. English or Spanish is acceptable. Bring the basic hand tools for your role (rodbuster or carpenter/wall laborer setup).

What you'll do

• Perform industrial concrete tasks for construction of the melt shop and caster, including wall labor and formwork carpentry.
• Read and follow drawings and layout instructions for placement of rebar, forms and embedments.
• Cut, bend, tie and install rebar; fabricate and assemble rebar cages for slab-on-grade, walls, columns and other structures.
• Rig, hoist, lift and set rebar cages and assist with installing steel columns and beams as directed.
• Install and secure metal decking and wire mesh in preparation for concrete placement.
• Complete site safety orientation and site-specific training and follow all site safety procedures before beginning work.

What we're looking for

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and layout marks.
• Experience cutting, bending, tying and fabricating rebar and rebar cages.
• Experience rigging, hoisting, lifting and setting rebar cages and heavy reinforcement.
• Experience installing rebar for slab-on-grade, walls, columns and tilt-up/precast placements.
• Experience installing and securing metal deck systems for concrete placement.
• Able to perform wall labor/carpentry tasks and use common hand tools for formwork and layout.

Qualifications

• OSHA 10-hour Construction card (must provide proof)
• Passed 10-panel urine rapid drug screen (documentation required)
• Willingness to complete site safety orientation and site-specific training upon arrival
• English or Spanish language acceptable
• Own basic trade tools as applicable (rodbuster basic kit or carpenter/wall laborer hand tools)
