Crane Operator — Steel Hanger (NCCCO)

About This Role

Hiring 4 NCCCO-certified crane operators for steel hanger work in and around Fort Wayne, IN. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of crane operating experience on steel work and be comfortable working with lattice, telescopic and hydraulic cranes. Per diem is available for non-local workers. Positions are based out of Clarksville, TN with project work in the Fort Wayne area. You’ll work on steel erection tasks, follow lift plans and rigging procedures, and coordinate with crews to complete critical and multi-crane lifts safely.

What You'll Do

  • Operate lattice, telescopic and hydraulic cranes to set steel hangers and structural members
  • Perform pre-start and daily crane inspections and report defects
  • Rig loads, select slings/hardware, and execute lift plans and critical lifts
  • Coordinate signals and radio communications with riggers and ground crew during blind and multi-crane lifts
  • Follow civil drawings and lift diagrams to ensure correct placement and alignment
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow site-specific safety and lockout/tagout procedures

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years crane operating experience on steel erection and hanger work
  • Current NCCCO Crane certification; proven experience with lattice & telescopic booms
  • Strong rigging skills including critical, multi-crane, and blind lifts
  • Able to read civil drawings and follow lift plans; experience with lift planning
  • Experience working in proximity to electrical transmission wires and elevated masonry
  • Reliable, safety-first attitude and ability to communicate in English onsite

Qualifications

  • NCCCO Crane certification (required)
  • NCCCO Rigger (preferred)
  • NCCER (preferred)
  • OSHA 30 and OSHA 10 (one or both preferred)
  • CDL-A (preferred where applicable)
  • English — must be able to understand and follow safety instructions
  • 5+ years crane operating experience (steel erection/rigging)
