Datacom Technician (Travel)

Nationwide $25-$39/hr

About this role

We’re hiring a BICSI-certified Datacom / structured cabling technician with at least 2 years of hands-on low-voltage experience. You’ll work on voice, data and video installs — pulling conduit, terminating copper and fiber, building equipment and TR rooms, and mounting racks and equipment. Travel across job sites nationwide is required. This role is field-first: expect multi-week assignments and a schedule that includes overnight travel. You should be comfortable reading drawings, using industry-standard test equipment, working from lifts or ladders, and documenting as-built work at each site.

What you'll do

  • Install and terminate voice, data and video cabling (copper and fiber) to spec
  • Pull conduit and setup cable pathways, supports and raceways
  • Build out equipment rooms and TR rooms, mount racks and equipment
  • Terminate and install cable connectors, test and document cable performance
  • Perform optical fiber splicing/termination and copper cable termination/maintenance
  • Follow site safety rules, complete daily reports and update as-built drawings

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years low-voltage / structured cabling experience
  • BICSI certification required (Installer-level)
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and work multi-week field assignments
  • Proven ability to terminate copper and fiber, test systems, and read cabling drawings
  • Comfortable working at heights, lifting up to 50 lbs, and using hand and power tools

Qualifications

  • BICSI Installer 1 (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight
  • Able to pass background check and drug screening
  • Proficient in reading cabling drawings and using test equipment (OTDR, power meter, certifiers)

What we offer

  • Nationwide travel assignments with clear project schedules
  • Per diem and travel reimbursement for overnight assignments
  • Paid safety training and certification support
  • Tool and PPE allowance or provision
  • Overtime opportunities on many projects
  • Career growth and steady field work for experienced cabling techs
