Drywall Mechanic / Ceiling Tile Installer
About This Role
We’re hiring a Drywall Mechanic in Nashville, TN to frame, hang, and finish drywall and install acoustical ceiling systems on commercial projects. You’ll work from blueprints, measure and cut panels, set metal framing, install ceiling grid and tiles, and make sure finished surfaces meet layout and quality standards. This is hands-on construction work: you’ll use saws, screw guns, lasers, scissor lifts, ladders, and scaffolds. Pay is $19–$24/hr depending on experience. Candidates should have 1–5 years in construction or carpentry, be able to follow drawings, and keep a safe, organized work area. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are required.
What You'll Do
- • Read drawings and measure/layout framing and drywall/ceiling placements from blueprints or instructions
- • Measure, cut and hang drywall panels around openings (doors, windows, outlets, lights) and fasten to metal or wood framing
- • Install ceiling wires, wall angles, suspension grid, and ceiling tiles for acoustical systems
- • Cut studs, track, headers, corners and other components from metal or wood and install per layout
- • Operate jobsite tools and equipment (chop/miter saws, screw guns, lasers, TrakFast, scissor lifts, ladders) and check work with levels/lasers for accuracy
- • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas; follow PPE and site safety rules
What We're Looking For
- • 1–5 years construction or carpentry experience (commercial drywall or ceiling work preferred)
- • Skilled in measuring, cutting, fastening drywall and metal framing; able to read technical drawings and layouts
- • Comfortable using chop saws, screw guns, lasers, automatic taping tools and operating scissor lifts, scaffolds, and ladders
- • Ability to meet production schedules and quality standards while working on-site with minimal supervision
- • Physically fit for lifting, climbing, bending, and working at heights; reliable attendance and good communication
- • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
Qualifications
- • Spanish and English (required)
- • NCCER Mechanic certification (preferred)
- • DW-MQ series qualifications (examples: Interior/Exterior Framing, Ceiling/Aluminum Products) — preferred
- • CE-MQ series qualifications for ceiling layout and grid/tile installation — preferred
- • Training courses: Basic Construction Math, Construction Drawings and Layout (recommended)
- • Willingness to complete evaluations/certification for advanced drywall and ceiling qualifications
