Journeyman Drywall Hanger / Metal Stud Framer

About this role

Join a local Charlotte crew as a Journeyman Drywall Hanger/Metal Stud Framer working on commercial and residential projects. You’ll install drywall and metal stud framing, fit acoustical ceilings, read plans, and deliver straight, durable work every day. This role is hands-on and team-focused: come ready to work with other trades, follow site safety, and maintain tools and materials. What you'll do

  • Install drywall panels to walls and ceilings on commercial and residential projects.
  • Frame walls and ceilings using metal studs for interior and nonbearing partitions.
  • Measure, cut and fasten drywall; ensure proper leveling, alignment and clean joints.
  • Install acoustical ceilings and coordinate with electrical, mechanical and other trades for penetrations and fixtures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings; lay out walls, openings and ceiling grids.
  • Inspect work for quality, follow safety procedures, maintain tools and keep a tidy jobsite.

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience hanging drywall and performing metal stud framing on commercial and residential sites.
  • Proficiency in steel framing for interior and nonbearing partitions and acoustical ceiling installation.
  • Strong skills in measuring, cutting, fastening drywall, leveling and alignment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints for layout and installation.
  • Attention to quality with the ability to self-inspect and correct defects before turnover.
  • Comfortable working on lifts, scaffolds and ladders and handling heavy materials safely.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman-level experience or equivalent trade certification
  • OSHA 10 preferred or other formal safety training
  • Proven blueprint reading and layout ability
  • English required; Spanish a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
