Apprentice Electrician

About this role

DPR is hiring an Apprentice Electrician in Richmond, VA to support installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial facilities. The role works under the supervision of experienced electricians and is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of electrical experience who wants to develop their skills on construction sites. Daily work includes assisting with low- and high-voltage circuits, building electrical enclosures, using hand and power tools and meters, and performing inspections while following commercial electrical codes and site safety protocols. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check and drug test.

What you'll do

• Assist with installation, maintenance, and repair of low- and high-voltage electrical systems
• Support construction and assembly of electrical enclosures and components
• Use hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters and voltmeters for troubleshooting and testing
• Perform routine inspections and verify systems meet commercial electrical codes
• Follow site safety protocols and participate in safety programs on construction sites
• Work alongside and take direction from experienced electricians to complete projects

What we're looking for

• At least 1 year of electrical work or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with low- and high-voltage systems and commercial electrical systems
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters and voltmeters
• Working knowledge of electrical theory, building codes and safety practices
• Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background check and drug test
