General Foreman — Electrician

About this role

DPR is hiring a General Foreman in Richmond, VA to lead electrical field operations on commercial construction projects. The General Foreman will supervise crews, manage schedules, order and organize materials and equipment, and keep work aligned with plans, specs, codes and industry standards. This role requires strong hands-on electrical installation experience, prior commercial foreman/leadman experience, the ability to read blueprints and contract documents, and a focus on safety and quality control while coordinating work with other trades and the project team.

What you'll do

• Supervise electricians, apprentices and laborers on active commercial job sites
• Establish and adjust work sequences and schedules to meet project timelines
• Order, organize and coordinate project materials and equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications and contract documents
• Enforce site safety standards and conduct quality control inspections
• Coordinate with other trades and the superintendent to ensure smooth handoffs

What we're looking for

• Minimum two (2) years journeyman experience installing electrical systems, equipment and fixtures
• At least two (2) years experience as a foreman or leadman in commercial construction
• Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and contract documents
• Hands-on experience with commercial electrical service and lighting installation
• Experience with low-voltage, voice/data/video systems and selection/installation of overcurrent and standby/emergency systems
• Strong leadership, communication and conflict-resolution skills; able to enforce safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• Journeyman electrician certification/license
• 2+ years foreman/leadman experience in commercial construction
• Valid Driver's License
• Pass background check and drug screen
• English (required)
