Journeyman Electrician
About this role
Local journeyman electricians needed in Bethesda, MD for campus and commercial electrical work. You’ll troubleshoot mid-level control and power systems, perform motor and starter replacements, work on automatic transfer switches, UPS/battery systems, emergency generators, and photovoltaic systems. This is hands-on work: read ladder logic, wiring diagrams and schematics; install new wiring and upgrade equipment; support mechanical and electrical repairs. Must be able to work varying shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
What you'll do
- • Troubleshoot controls and power electrical systems using ladder logic, diagrams, and schematics.
- • Remove and replace motors, starters, relays, limit switches, fuses, and primary control components.
- • Perform installation wiring hook-ups and upgrade existing equipment and control wiring.
- • Assemble, inspect, adjust, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on electrical devices and systems.
- • Support mechanical and electrical repairs on building systems including ATS, UPS/battery storage, emergency generators, and PV systems.
- • Follow federal, state, and local electrical codes and site safety protocols; work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
What we're looking for
- • Journeyman-level experience troubleshooting commercial electrical and control systems.
- • Proven ability to read and interpret drawings, ladder logic, wiring diagrams and schematics.
- • Experience removing/replacing motors, starters, relays, switches, fuses and primary control components.
- • Hands-on experience with ATS, UPS/battery systems, emergency generators and photovoltaic equipment.
- • Familiarity with medium and high-voltage systems and relevant safety procedures.
- • Willingness to work variable shifts (nights, weekends, holidays) and to travel to local job sites.
Qualifications
- • State-licensed electrician (journeyman)
- • Strong working knowledge of federal, state and local electrical codes
- • Ability to read electrical drawings and ladder logic
- • Experience with medium/high-voltage systems and campus/commercial sites
- • English language proficiency for safe jobsite communication
- • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screening
