Journeyman Electrician

Charlotte, NC $24-$31/hr

About this role

We’re hiring a Journeyman Electrician in Charlotte, NC to work on commercial, healthcare, education, and life‑science projects. You’ll install, maintain, and repair electrical systems to code, read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and help deliver quality projects on schedule. This is a hands-on role for a safety-minded tradesperson who communicates well with superintendents, project managers, engineers and other trades. Expect varied daily work across job sites in the Charlotte area, practical problem solving, and opportunities for skills growth and paid training.

What you'll do

  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial electrical systems to code on healthcare, education, and life‑science projects
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, riser diagrams and wiring plans to lay out and complete installations
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues using meters and testing equipment; perform system startup and commissioning tasks
  • Use modern tools and equipment safely; follow lockout/tagout, PPE and site safety procedures
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents and other trades to meet schedules and quality standards
  • Perform inspections, document work, complete punch lists and assist with customer handover

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 8 years of construction industry experience as an electrician on commercial projects
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and specifications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical systems, overcurrent devices, standby/emergency systems and general service
  • Working knowledge of local, state and national electrical codes and enforcement of jobsite safety procedures
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; able to travel between Charlotte-area job sites and work a jobsite schedule

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 (preferred)
  • State electrician/journeyman license (preferred)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required)
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
