Electrician — High-Voltage Substation (Helpers, Apprentices, Journeyman)

Austin, TX $23-$35/hr

About this role

We are hiring Electrical Helpers, Electrical Apprentices, and Journeyman Electricians to work on high-voltage substation projects out of Austin, TX. Work will involve systems 35 kV and above on rotating job sites across West Texas. Travel to remote project locations is required. Day-to-day work includes installation, cable pulling, terminations, grounding, and safe work around energized high-voltage equipment. Per diem is available for eligible workers. What you'll do

  • Install, terminate, and connect high-voltage equipment and switchgear on 35 kV+ systems
  • Pull, route, and secure medium- and high-voltage cable in raceways and direct-buried runs
  • Install grounding systems and perform continuity/ground tests
  • Work safely around energized equipment following lockout/tagout and site procedures
  • Load/unload materials, maintain tools and equipment, and keep work areas clean
  • Follow drawings and technical schematics; coordinate with foremen and craft leads

What we're looking for

  • Experience on substation or medium/high-voltage projects (35 kV and above)
  • Skilled in cable pulling, terminations, grounding, and raceway installation
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Committed to safe work practices around energized systems and able to follow site safety procedures
  • Willingness to travel and work at remote West Texas project sites for extended periods
  • Able to lift, carry, and handle material on site; comfortable working at heights and in varied weather

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to remote sites
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred
  • NFPA 70E or equivalent electrical safety training preferred
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
