About this role
Hiring Electrical Helpers, Apprentices, and Journeyman Electricians for high-voltage substation work based out of Austin, TX. Work will be on 35 kV and above systems and includes equipment installation, terminations, cable pulling, grounding, testing, and routine maintenance. Travel to West Texas project sites is required; pay and per diem are available for eligible workers. This is hands-on field work with multi-week assignments. Expect early starts, physical labor, and close teamwork on energized systems. Candidates must follow site-specific safety training and demonstrate safe practices when working around high-voltage equipment.
What you'll do
- Install substation equipment, cable racks, wireways, and raceways on 35 kV+ systems
- Perform terminations, splice conductors, and pull medium-voltage cables safely and accurately
- Install grounding systems and verify continuity and resistance per project specs
- Read and follow electrical drawings, blueprints, and layout plans on site
- Assist with loading/unloading materials, set up tools and equipment, and maintain a clean work area
- Work around energized equipment while following lockout/tagout and site-specific safety procedures
What we're looking for
- Hands-on experience on 35 kV and above substation projects (helpers through journeyman level)
- Able to perform terminations, cable pulling, grounding, and related medium-voltage tasks
- Comfortable working around energized high-voltage systems and following strict safety procedures
- Willingness to travel across West Texas project sites and be on multi-week assignments
- Ability to read technical drawings, load/unload materials, and use common electrical tools
Qualifications
- Journeyman electrician license or enrollment in a registered electrical apprenticeship (as applicable)
- Prior substation experience on 35 kV+ systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred; site-specific safety training required
- Current CPR/First Aid and ability to complete any required safety certifications
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel and stay on project sites
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
