General Laborer & Heavy Equipment Operator

About This Role

Local crews needed in and around Gulfport, MS for site-based civil construction work. Multiple openings for General Laborers and Heavy Equipment Operators — day shifts, mostly outdoors, with steady project work across the Gulfport area. Roles include site cleanup, concrete work, demolition, excavation/trench work, traffic control/flagging, and operation of graders, loaders, dozers, excavators, skid steers, and dump trucks. Pay is competitive and based on role and experience; local candidates preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Operate heavy equipment (dozer, excavator, loader, grader, skid steer, dump truck) safely and efficiently on civil construction sites
  • Perform general site labor: loading/unloading materials, site cleanup, demolition, and concrete placement/pouring
  • Follow site layout and grade stakes; assist with excavation, trenching, and backfill operations
  • Perform routine heavy equipment checks and basic maintenance; report defects and follow lockout/tagout procedures
  • Set up and maintain traffic control, flagging, and signage as required by the site
  • Work with crew leads/foremen to complete daily tasks, follow safety plans, and meet project schedules

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience operating one or more types of heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, grader, loader, skid steer, dump truck) on construction sites
  • Hands-on experience with concrete work, demolition, excavation/trench work, and site cleanup
  • Ability to read basic site layout and follow crew directions; comfortable working outdoors in all weather
  • Competent in loading/unloading materials and basic equipment maintenance
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to local job sites, and ability to pass drug screen and background check
  • Physically fit: able to lift, carry, climb, and work on feet for full shifts; punctual and able to work overtime when needed

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license; clean driving record preferred
  • CDL A/B for truck/dump operation preferred but not required for all roles
  • OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain) and flagger/traffic control certification preferred
  • Forklift and heavy-equipment operator certification preferred (or documented experience)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • English required for safety communication; Spanish helpful
