About This Role

Join a tunnel construction crew in Manchester, NH as a Tunnel Laborer / Miner. This hourly role starts at $29.00/hr DOE with per diem for eligible workers. You’ll support excavation, TBM maintenance, installation of tunnel supports and utilities, and keep the work area safe and running. This is physically demanding, team-based work in primarily underground conditions. Shift work, overtime, weekends, and on-call availability are required. Proper training (including optional hyperbaric entry training) will be provided where applicable.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with digging, drilling and blasting support: mucking out material, shoveling, and operating hand and power tools.
  • Install and secure tunnel support systems—braces, rock bolts, segment liners—and assist in installing utility lines and ventilation.
  • Help maintain and service Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) systems, including cutting tool changes and general TBM housekeeping (hyperbaric work voluntary with training).
  • Operate and assist with conveyors, haulage equipment, and material handling; load/unload and transport supplies to work areas.
  • Use jackhammers, drills, concrete saws, and common power tools safely; perform routine cleanup and keep work areas free of hazards.
  • Inspect work areas, report safety issues, follow permit and confined-space procedures, and support traffic control/flagging when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Able to lift and carry 40 lbs repeatedly and perform physical work in confined, wet, dirty, and noisy underground conditions.
  • Prior construction, tunneling, mining, or underground experience preferred but not required if you have strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Comfort working shifts, nights, weekends, overtime, and being on-call for emergencies.
  • Basic mechanical skills and experience with hand and power tools; willingness to work around heavy machinery.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions; work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Willingness to complete required safety training (confined space, PPE, and site-specific programs).

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred (OSHA 10 considered minimum in many cases).
  • Forklift and scissor-lift operator certifications preferred.
  • Hilti certification, qualified rigger or certified rigger preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).
  • Able to pass any site-required medical, drug screening, and fit-for-duty checks; English proficiency for safety communication.
