About This Role

Join a heavy civil tunnel crew in Manchester, NH as a Tunnel Laborer / Miner. This is a physically demanding, hourly position starting at $29.00/hr DOE with per diem for eligible workers. You’ll work underground supporting excavation, tunnel support installation, TBM maintenance, and general site upkeep. You’ll be part of a crew focused on safety and steady progress in challenging conditions. Shift work, overtime, weekend availability, and occasional on-call response are required. Hyperbaric TBM work may be performed on a voluntary basis with training provided.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with excavation, drilling, and blasting operations and moving muck using conveyors, haulage equipment, or manual means.
  • Install and secure tunnel support systems (braces, rock bolts, precast liners) and help install/maintain utility, ventilation, and grout systems.
  • Operate and maintain hand and power tools (jackhammers, drills, concrete saws) and assist operators of heavy equipment as directed.
  • Perform TBM support tasks including cutting tool changes, routine maintenance, and hyperbaric chamber work on a voluntary basis after training.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area; perform site cleanup, inspect for hazards, report safety issues, and follow all confined-space and ventilation procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1–2 years construction or underground experience preferred (tunneling, mining, or drilling experience a plus).
  • Ability to lift and move 40 lbs repeatedly, stoop, bend, crawl, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Comfort working underground in noisy, wet, and dirty conditions; able to maintain composure under stress and follow safety directions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hand/power tools; willingness to assist skilled trades (electrical, mechanical, waterproofing).
  • Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends, overtime, and be on-call for emergencies; reliable attendance required.

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred; OSHA 10 required in many cases
  • Forklift and scissor lift operator certification preferred
  • Hilti/tool certifications, qualified rigger or certified rigger preferred
  • Willingness to complete pre-employment drug screening and physical; hyperbaric training provided for volunteers
