Labor Journeyman

About This Role

Join as a Labor Journeyman supporting construction site operations across Washington, DC. You’ll work under the Foreperson to keep project areas safe and organized, handle materials and deliveries, and assist carpenters, masons, and other trades as assigned. This is hands-on work: site setup and cleanup, debris removal, trailer upkeep, and basic material handling. Schedule is typically local to DC with opportunities for consistent hours and overtime. Pay is determined by experience and qualifications (DOE).

What You'll Do

  • Perform site setup and cleanup, including removal and proper disposal of construction debris
  • Assist with loading, unloading, receiving deliveries, and organized material storage
  • Support carpenters, masons, and other trades with basic labor tasks as directed by the Foreperson
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of jobsite trailers, common areas, and project zones
  • Navigate jobsite terrain safely and follow site-specific access and housekeeping plans
  • Report safety incidents, hazards, and injuries immediately to the Foreperson and Safety Leader

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience
  • Prior construction or general labor experience preferred
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required (assistance available for obtaining certificate)
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, handle tools, and work in variable weather conditions
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to follow directions and report issues
  • Basic inventory control and material handling skills; attention to worksite organization

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10-hour construction safety card (required or must obtain upon hire)
  • Proof of education and any safety certificates upon hire
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen, if required for project access
  • English required for safety communication; Spanish or other languages a plus
