Material Handler

About this role

EIG, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is hiring a Material Handler in Abilene, TX to support construction project progress through general labor, material handling, and site support tasks. The role focuses on keeping the jobsite organized and work moving efficiently. This position is suited for someone with 2–4 years of construction or general labor experience who works safely, stays organized, and can assist other trades while maintaining tools, equipment, and materials to project standards.

What you'll do

• Perform site preparation and handle materials on site (loading, unloading, staging)
• Operate and maintain basic site equipment; perform routine equipment upkeep
• Support other trades and team members to keep work moving efficiently
• Inspect work areas and materials for safety and quality concerns and report issues
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean, organized, and functional condition
• Sign for deliveries, prepare orders for shipment, and assist with inventory control

What we're looking for

• 2–4 years experience in general labor, construction, or a related field
• Ability to follow site safety procedures and work safely at all times
• Organized and able to maintain clean, functional work areas and tools
• Forklift operation experience and comfort handling materials
• Strong verbal and written communication across teams
• Experience signing for deliveries, preparing orders, and basic inventory control

Qualifications

• OSHA 10-Hour Construction certification (required)
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (preferred)
• Forklift operator certification
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
• English (required)
