Diesel Mechanic & Heavy Equipment Operator
About This Role
Join our crew as a Diesel Mechanic and Heavy Equipment Operator in Houston, TX. You’ll maintain, troubleshoot and repair diesel engines and related systems, and operate heavy machinery on job sites. Work is hands-on, outdoors at times, and focused on keeping equipment safe and running. We need dependable techs who know hydraulics, fuel and emissions systems, A/C and electrical accessories, transmissions and powertrains. What You'll Do
- • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions and powertrains.
- • Inspect, diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, fuel and emissions systems, and A/C/electrical accessories.
- • Safely operate and perform pre- and post-shift checks on heavy equipment (loaders, excavators, dozers, etc.).
- • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults using hand tools and diagnostic equipment; complete repairs on site or in the shop.
- • Keep maintenance logs, parts records and repair documentation; report equipment status to supervisors.
- • Follow OSHA and site safety rules, perform lockout/tagout, and maintain clean, organized work areas.
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience maintaining and repairing diesel engines on heavy equipment.
- • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, transmissions and powertrains.
- • Able to service heavy equipment A/C and electrical accessories and troubleshoot wiring/controls.
- • Experience with fuel systems and emissions controls on diesel machines.
- • Comfortable operating heavy equipment safely and performing pre-op inspections.
- • Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and perform welding/basic fabrication as needed.
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED preferred
- • ASE diesel technician certification or equivalent experience preferred
- • EPA 609 A/C certification preferred
- • Valid driver's license with clean driving record; CDL Class A/B preferred
- • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
