About This Role

Join our crew in Abilene, TX as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. You’ll work independently and with operators to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair production machinery to keep lines running and downtime low. This is a per diem role with hands-on work—set up, run, tear down, and fix equipment in a production environment. Expect to perform preventive maintenance, diagnose electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues, and inspect work for safety and contract compliance. Work includes climbing, confined-space entry, and outdoor conditions; overtime, nights and weekends may be required by workload.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical faults on production machinery
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime
  • Set up, start up, troubleshoot and tear down production equipment during shifts
  • Communicate equipment issues and status clearly with machine operators and production management
  • Inspect completed work for safety, quality and compliance with specifications
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces; follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with heavy equipment or production machinery maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting skills: controls, electrical systems, hydraulics, pumps and gas valves
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, electrical test equipment and measurement tools
  • Able to read technical drawings, blueprints and follow written/oral instructions
  • Capable of climbing, confined-space entry, and working outdoors in all weather
  • Must supply basic personal toolset and meet physical requirements of the job

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 3 years relevant maintenance/repair experience on heavy or production machinery
  • OSHA 10 (or higher), Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications preferred or willing to obtain
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience and familiarity with schematics/controls
  • Must provide own basic tool set
  • Able to pass drug screen and background check; English proficiency for safe communication
