About This Role

Heavy Equipment Mechanic needed in Amarillo, TX to maintain and repair a growing rental fleet. You will diagnose hydraulic and diesel issues, complete timely turnover of returned units, and keep service trucks and the shop organized and ready for work. This is hands-on work in a fast-paced, service-focused environment. You’ll coordinate customer service and onsite repairs, prioritize service tasks to meet business needs, and follow OSHA/OES safety rules every day. We want a dependable, detail-oriented technician who can work alone on service calls and also fit into a small team in the shop.

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical failures using schematics and service manuals
  • Perform timely turnover and inspection of returned rental equipment to ensure readiness
  • Maintain and organize shop inventory, order common parts and supplies, and keep the work area clean
  • Service and maintain company service truck and mounted equipment; handle onsite service calls
  • Coordinate with customers on service scheduling and prioritization to meet business goals

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years hands-on experience as a heavy equipment or diesel technician
  • Ability to read schematics, troubleshoot, and repair diesel/gas engines, powertrains, transmissions, and hydraulics
  • Strong customer-service skills and clear verbal/written communication
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with Wynne Rental Man and Coupa is a plus
  • Must provide own hand tools and be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work independently on service calls and as part of a shop team; reliable attendance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 2+ years operating and maintaining construction equipment (loaders, excavators, skid steers, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30) preferred
  • ASE or diesel technician certifications a plus
  • English required; Spanish a plus
  • Must pass background check and drug screen as required
  • Must own and maintain personal hand tools
