About this role
Join a hands-on shop team in Burlington, TX as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. You’ll inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair rental equipment—mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems—to restore units to “Ready to Rent” condition. Work is primarily shop-based with occasional field service calls. You’ll follow OEM service schedules and preventive maintenance programs, document work orders with diagnostics, labor, and parts, and follow OSHA/EHS safety rules at all times. This is a full-time role with daytime hours, occasional overtime, and occasional on-call or short field assignments as needed to meet fleet demand.
What you'll do
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel-powered rental equipment to return units to serviceable condition.
- Perform preventive maintenance and complete OEM-recommended service schedules to maintain fleet readiness and compliance.
- Troubleshoot failures, identify repair scope, and escalate complex issues to lead technicians when required.
- Generate, update, and close work orders documenting diagnostics, parts used, labor hours, and repair outcomes.
- Support parts ordering, inventory organization, and basic stock management to keep turnaround times tight.
- Maintain site safety and compliance with OSHA/EHS requirements, use proper PPE, and follow safe repair procedures in shop and field settings.
What we're looking for
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience servicing heavy or rental equipment, diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Strong diagnostic skills using meters, gauges, and troubleshooting procedures; able to read service manuals and wiring diagrams.
- Able to perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and rebuild tasks with hand and power tools.
- Comfortable working in a shop environment and on limited field service calls; able to lift 50+ lbs and work in varied weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance, ability to prioritize repairs based on fleet demand, and good communication with branch operations and parts staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry certification (required)
- Valid driver’s license (required); CDL Class A preferred
- Forklift certification preferred; diesel technician or ASE credentials a plus
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
What we offer
- Medical, dental, and vision options available
- Paid time off and holiday schedule
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- Paid safety training and opportunities for certification reimbursement
- Company-provided PPE and uniforms, plus a tool allowance or support
