Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Shop Service Technician)

About this role

Join a service-center team in Eagleville, TN as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic supporting safe, reliable operation of fleet, tools, and heavy machines. You’ll work on items ranging from portable generators and small tools to 40,000‑lb track excavators, performing inspections, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance. This is hands-on shop work: using gauges and computerized diagnostics, disassembling and inspecting components, welding and testing repairs, cleaning equipment, and keeping clear service records. The role requires basic computer skills, solid mechanical troubleshooting, attention to detail, and occasional after-hours emergency response.

What you'll do

• • Inspect on-road vehicles, small tools, and heavy equipment to determine service and repair needs
• • Perform preventive maintenance, component repairs, welding, cleaning and post-repair testing
• • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, fuel, powertrain and emissions issues using analyzers, gauges and diagnostic tools
• • Disassemble and inspect parts, replace or repair components, then test-drive or bench-test equipment to verify repairs
• • Complete and maintain service records, equipment tags, and daily maintenance/safety checklists
• • Be available for occasional emergency calls outside normal business hours and support safe shop practices at all times

What we're looking for

• • High school diploma or GED
• • Hands-on experience with heavy equipment, small tools (gas/electric) and automotive maintenance
• • Ability to read service manuals, schematics and technical drawings and follow checklists
• • Comfort using diagnostic meters, computerized diagnostic devices, and basic shop tooling; welding skills required
• • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, climb and perform manual tasks
• • Basic computer skills (typing, email, internet) and clear written/verbal communication for documentation

Qualifications

• • High School Diploma or GED
• • Valid driver’s license
• • OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 safety training (or willing to obtain)
• • First Aid / CPR certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
• • ASE certifications or equivalent heavy-equipment credentials preferred
• • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and schematics; basic English reading/writing
